Say It With Cake: Long Service At Thurlow Nunn Holt

These days, it can be difficult to find a long-standing member of staff, with the average person changing jobs 10 to 15 times throughout their careers.

However local Vauxhall retailer, Thurlow Nunn Holt, is celebrating bucking the trend after one employee has clocked up an impressive 40 years of service at the retailer.

Customers are in safe hands when it comes to their motoring needs after Service and Bodyshop manager Chris Pegg from Holt notched up four decades of continuous service at the dealership on Cromer Road. The team celebrated by presenting 56-year-old Chris with a cake fit for the occasion.

Chris started at the dealership as a fresh-faced 16-year-old in October 1976. He has been with the business all of his working life, starting as an Apprentice Mechanic before working his way up to the position he holds today.

Having seen the site change over the years, Chris remains one of the sturdy structures at the dealership and is impressed with how far the retailer has come. One thing that never fails to impress him is the innovation surrounding the Vauxhall models that he deals with.

He comments: “I really enjoy working with the team here, we all have a really strong bond – I suppose you would after such a long time! My long-standing service is a testament to the team and the dealership. I have seen massive changes in the technological advances of cars – when I started, there were no radios or heated rear windows! Under the bonnet, technology has advanced leaps and bounds too, and of course, it’s staggering to see how much the showroom has changed over the years.”
