Vauxhall ASTRA HYBRID

The Vauxhall Astra is a classic model, central to Vauxhall’s offering for generations. But the Astra is a model that Vauxhall has continuously enhanced and advanced. And now, the Vauxhall Astra Hybrid is the latest embodiment of this iconic vehicle.

By introducing a 48V hybrid powertrain, Vauxhall is bringing the Astra model into a new age, helping to enable enhanced efficiencies and lower emissions. 

The Astra follows on from Vauxhall’s Corsa and Grandland (add links) hybrid options by introducing a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 0.89kWh. This is automatically recharged when certain driving conditions are met.

And with the engine paired to a new electrified six-speed dual clutch automatic transmission, which has been designed for hybrid application, it’s safe to say that the new Vauxhall Astra Hybrid is bringing something special to the fore.

Hybrid for the Vauxhall Astra and Astra Sport Tourer

With the new hybrid engine available for both the Vauxhall Astra and Vauxhall Astra Sport Tourer model, drivers can travel for short distances on electric power alone, while only using low torque requirements.

The electric motor also supports the petrol engine under acceleration. And during deceleration, the petrol engine stops and the e-motor takes over, becoming a generator to recharge the hybrid system’s 48V battery. This battery also stores the energy retrieved by the regenerative braking system.

Perhaps most importantly for drivers keen to make a positive decision for the environment, the Vauxhall Astra Hybrid offers a 19% reduction in fuel consumption, as well as significantly lower CO2 emissions.

The new hybrid powertrain becomes the fourth option available to buyers seeking a new Vauxhall Astra, with petrol, electric, GSe and now hybrid options available.
