AFC Dunstable's U10's Runners up in the SCI Football tournament!

Thurlow Nunn Vauxhall in Dunstable

AFC Dunstable's U10's who play at Creasey Park in Dunstable and are sponsored by Thurlow Nunn Vauxhall in Dunstable, attended the SCI Football tournament in Great Yarmouth last weekend.

It is a very popular tournament which attracts teams from all over the country. Teams are comprised of both boys and girls from 7-16 years of age.

Things weren't looking great before the competition, as the club captain was ruled out just 48 hours before the tournament after having his ankle placed in plaster. Also with one other player down, it meant the boys would only have one substitute for the whole weekend.

AFC Dunstable U10's got off to a great start on the first day, winning 3 games and drawing 2. Only conceding 1 goal from a penalty. They finished the day in third place.

On day 2 they stepped up even more and won their first three games and ensured that they had reached the final, drawing their last game 0-0 to ensure they topped the group over the 2 days with 6 wins 3 draws and only 1 goal conceded.

A very tense final finished 0-0 and went to penalties! After finishing 3-3 the penalties went to sudden death with the winners from Solihull just edging the Dunstable lads.

Although desperately disappointed, the boys showed their class by lining up and congratulating the winners, something that was noted and appreciated by all those who watched the finals and attended the presentation that evening.

Keiron Dyer former Newcastle player and I'm a Celebrity contestant, was at the awards to present the boys with their runner-up trophies.

All the boys were a credit to the club and the town throughout the 2 days.
